Thought I'd share a little humorous story...a co-worker had shoulder surgery and our peer support team found out he was making one arm sandwiches.  So we went to the local Subway and replaced his one arm creation with a foot long!  See how simple peer support can be.

We have developed an handbook for coworkers with long term injuries, such and back injuries or someone having surgery.  The book talks about the emotions that some people feel and answers some of the questions that run through your mind in the days following surgery or the days that the pain keeps you bedridden.  It is a benefit to most employees.  And peer supporters who have been through an injury are the first point of contact when newly injured coworkers have questions.
