Hi everyone! First let me say thank you Maxine for the awesome two classes recently in La Mesa. I learned a lot and am more motivated than ever to make our new peer support program a success.

Okay, so I don't know how many agencies are currently developing some health and welfare projects to present to their officers but if so I would love to hear some ideas which your agency has put in place.

For example; I am currently trying to get our managers to agree to allow us to have a half hour meditation session on some days when our Agents are in the office for training. It's not part of the formal training day just an informal session. Meditation is a great way to improve your health.

I have also found a massage school that does massages (real massages) for a reduced price. Most of the students are nearing the end of their training and as such they are completing some OJT for their certificates. I have given that location and number to our Agents so they can go there and get a real massage from a legitimate, professional business. (without hiden video camera's somewhere!) :)

We include health and wellness training in our team meetings and are making a new effort to visit line ups and talk about taking care of yourself etc.  The team will also supply water on hot days with tips for staying hydrated in the heat etc.  I don't think meditation will happen for our department but whatever works is great!  Good idea on the trainees for massage therapy!
